Big Hole River 2840 cfs, temp. 58
Pat has been fishing with me for a number of years and today he accomplished a feat he has been trying for a long time and that is to get the Big Hole Grand Slam and today he got it. For those of you who aren’t sure what that is, it’s getting all five species of fish in the Big Hole in one day. Those include Brown, Rainbow, Brook, Cutthroat and Grayling. He caught the Grayling on a wooly bugger which doesn’t happen very often. We had just a short ways to go and he still needed the cutthroat. I anchored the boat and had him fish a seam where two channels come together in one last ditch effort. He only caught one fish out of that seam but it was a genuine cutthroat.
Bob Flynn who guided for me yesterday floated from Glen to Notch Bottom today and saw a few Salmon fly schucks in the willows. They tried Salmon Fly patterns on top and had no takers.
The forecast for tomorrow is high temps. around eighty and then cooler with 50% chance of rain for the rest of the week.
Stonefly patterns and small wooly buggers worked today and we did get a brookie on a fluttering stone.
