Trial Safety Float and Inspection
Big Hole River 597 cfs—-Melrose
The coffer dam came out today and the river was diverted back to the main channel. My boat was put in service to make a run across the new dam to see if all their work and money proved to be a success. The chief operator and project superintendent were in the boat with me. All went very good and the boat channel in the middle worked out well. Hit it right in the middle and it scoots you right on through. Other than a couple small obstacles it seems to be just fine. Definitely a hundred percent better than the old dam.
You will see by the pics it’s a pretty easy float through it
The river remains closed in that stretch but I will get with the chief engineer and see if we can’t reopen it this next week. The contractor still has some work to do but it should not be a conflict with any floaters.
