This is one of several nice brown trout that 11 year old Graham Bailey caught the other day. Most kids his age have a very short attention span, kinda like 10 minutes. Graham was the exception as he stayed focused and improving his fly casting all day and it paid off big time. Cory was guiding him and his dad was in my boat. He actually caught more big fish than his dad.
Weather has been cool and wet but fishing has been excellent. Temps are to be in the mid 70’s starting tomorrow and remain that way for the rest of the week.
So you know what that means? Yup the big bugs are getting close. By this time next week we should be seeing them. That is typical as I usually predict them to show up between the 10th and 15th.
The river is lower than normal as historically it is usually blown out around this time. With all the rain and snow in the high country I look for it to maintain this flow for some time.
Lacey’s latest creation is a bloody mary wrap—try it.
