Southwest Montana finally got the storm we've been waiting for! It kicked off last Wednesday evening and kept going all weekend long. Our local ski hills received feet of snow, with Lost Trail reporting nearly 50" total. This has done wonders for our snowpack! Down here in the valley, it rained throughout most of the weekend, but the rain is fantastic as it has given a nice boost to the stream flows.
What's next? We're hoping that the cold temperatures will stick around, ensuring the snow remains in the mountains. This boost in snowpack gives us optimism for an average run-off and average flows through June. We can't wait for the Big Hole to open for the season on April 1. If you've been thinking about a trip to SW Montana, now is the perfect time to make it happen. April and May offer a fantastic opportunity to enjoy uncrowded rivers and try your hand at throwing streamers to hungry trout. If you're eager to fish with large dry flies, then June is your month to visit. We still have some availability, so give us a call!
