Big Browns on the Big Hole

Craig pulled a late shift last night, and it paid off. Great fish, Roger! We have been seeing fewer big browns this year, especially browns over 20 inches. But, I guess the angry ones are still there, you just need to know where to look!

Spruce moths are still coming off in the canyon, and the tricos have been hatching as well. We have seen thick clouds of tricos in various spots on the river, mostly between 9 AM to 11 AM. Moths are best between 10:30 AM to about 1:30 PM.

New restrictions have been added on the Big Hole, including closures. The water is still dropping fast, and water temperatures increasing. It doesn’t look like we will have a break from the heat anytime soon. Keep those fish wet when you catch them, and release them quickly.
