Rising river

The Big Hole jumped up to 774cfs but according to the USGS graph has leveled off there. Visibility is down to about a foot and a half. What this does is put the fish tighter on the banks. The baetis are still coming off at times when it’s cloudy. There have been reports of some caddis on the lower river. It’s supposed to be cool with scattered showers for the next few days. As soon as it warms up again they will be coming off big time.

I have been getting several inquiries as to when the salmon flys will start to show up. Their about a month away. Normally the second week in June they start to appear.

The river is still very fishable. When using streamers especially for brown trout, concentrate on the banks and shallow riffles rather than deeper pools and runs.
