Big Hole 564 cfs Beaverhead 542 cfs Jefferson 732 cfs
This morning there were pmd’s, drakes, caddis and a few tricos coming off. A pmd, cdc emerger worked well during the morning hatch. After the hatch a yellow humpy kicked in and produced fish.
A cold front is moving in tonight with showers predicted. That should cool things off after the hot weather we had last week. In this area the ranchers have just finished with their first cutting of hay and it was quite noticeable on the USGS graph when they opened their head gates on their irrigation ditches. This afternoon in just a few hours the river dropped 50 cfs.
Today I started to see quite a few hoppers along the river banks. It shouldn’t take long before the fish start seeing them also.
