It’s probably no secret that fly fishing in the Western U.S. is very different from how they do things in England and the rest of Europe. For example, some fly fisherman in England will only cast to fish that can be seen, and find the thought of blind fishing with nymphs and dry flies barbaric. But then again, these are the same people who will take a perfectly good piece of meat and boil the hell out of it. But let’s stick to fishing.
I read in the Kansas City Star about the 350th Anniversary of Izaak Walton’s “The Compleat Angler.”. Needless to say, I was pretty suprised find out how much it costs to fish on the River Test, where Walton spent most of his fishing time. I consider myself fortunate to live in an area where access to some of the best rivers in the world, is open and free of charge.
