The Big Hole has been on the rise over the past few days, with the clarity decreasing in the late afternoon yesterday. Most anglers have been venturing to the upper stretches of the Big Hole, fishing above East Bank.Despite rising water levels, we have seen some beautiful, healthy fish! The tributaries of La Marche Creek and Deep Creek are running very clean, The Wise River has been coming up late at night, and dropping back down starting about 11 AM, but is also running fairly clean.

Heavy, articulated streamers, in yellow have been the best for us. You can fish them as is, or under an indicator with a pink worm behind it. The caddis have been slowly hatching, and some rising fish can be found in the back eddies. We are loaded up with Miracle Caddis in anticipation of the hatch, and we expect to see it take off in the next few days.
Don’t forget that the Montana General Fishing season started yesterday, May 19th. This means that the daily restrictions are now in place for non-residents and guides. Check the regulations, or call the shop if your not sure which stretch is closed. And, the upper Beaverhead is now open to fishing, and looks fantastic.
