Shop opens this Friday, April 1

We are happy to say that we will be opening the shop for the season this Friday, April 1. The hours for the month of April will be 9 AM – 3 PM (which could adjust, depending on the weather). Be sure to stop by, we are looking forward to seeing both old and new faces. The crew has been busy with some small remodeling projects, stocking new inventory and getting all of our flies in the bins! The weather is forecast to be

beautiful this weekend, with temps in the mid to high fifties.

We have made it out on the river with our friends (who are as anxious as we are to get on the river) a few times in the past few weeks, with the best floating from Divide to Maiden Rock. There hasn’t been any action (yet) on skwalla’s, but that could change anytime. We’ve had a

few fish chase streamers, mostly copper colored, but still slow to eat it. Nymphing has definitely produced the best results, with a brown Pat’s Stone and a Red Attacker. Mother nature has been good to the Big Hole and the surrounding mountains, with snowstorms on and off for the past week. The river has been fluctuating up and down as a result of this. It looks like we will get one more good storm tomorrow, before the shop opens up.

Our summer calendar is steadily filling up too, so be sure to call ahead if you are thinking of planning a trip this summer! The snow pack, or snow water equivalent, is still looking good, with most sites in the Upper Big Hole reading between 105% to 115%.

And a friendly reminder to those with boat trailers: Don’t forget to get your wheel bearings worked on! We love moving your vehicles for you, but we don’t like picking up its broken pieces when a tire flies off in the canyon.
