In the past few days the scenery from my upstairs window where I have my computer has improved dramatically. The ice on the river has broken up and with it the eagles are back on their favorite limbs on the far side looking for their dinner. There is still plenty of shelf ice on the banks but just looking at the flowing water improves the whole scene rather than the wind swept ice as before. As soon as the temp. rises a bit I guess I better grab my fly rod and check it out. Aside from seeing the eagles, when Amos and Allie and I went for a walk just before dark there were mule deer and elk on the hill just east of the house. This is just one of the perks of living in this location. How ever when it’s twenty below zero and the wind is blowing down the river one wonders just what in the hell am I doing living here.
It’s been snowing on and off for the past few days and I have received reports from skiers and snowmobilers that the high country is finally getting a good accumulation of the white stuff. Up to this point the snow pack has been below average so let her snow.
