The Andros Connection
Travel to Andros Island, Bahamas for some of the best bone fishing to be found. Andros Island is the largest island in the Bahamas and also the least developed. Andros is fringed on the east by the third largest barrier reef in the world, with the tongue of the ocean plunging to 6,000 feet just beyond the reef. This creates a unique combination of marine features and ecosystems. The west coast of Andros Island is mostly undeveloped and contains the expansive flats of the Great Bahamas Bank. Additionally, Andros Island has the most extensive collection of blue holes in the world. The combination of a healthy reef system, expansive flats, and low angling pressure is why Andros is known as “The bonefish capital of the world”.
